Hugging Face Responses language models mirror upstream Hugging Face 2.0.44: HUGGINGFACE_API_KEY, custom base URL and headers, versioned user-agent suffix, callable/language/responses aliases, /v1/responses request builder, providerOptions.huggingface metadata/instructions/strictJsonSchema/reasoningEffort schema, structured text formats, function tools/tool choice, reasoning and MCP/tool-call parsing, streaming lifecycle and metadata, image URL/data file parts including top-level image and image/* MIME resolution, explicit provider-reference file rejection, and unsupported embedding/image families. Streamed provider failures preserve normalized type, code, status, retryability, and raw metadata. ProviderV4 type names, ESM-only packaging, Node 22 engines, default export rename to huggingFace, optional JS headers config, TypeScript option export split, and workflow serialization helpers are JS-only upstream concerns.
